Oak Grove wins CCS Championship

Oak Grove’s Stacy Long had it right: It’s not who is winning at half time, but who wins at the end of the game that counts.
On Friday, Nov. 30, it was Long and the rest of the Oak Grove Eagles who came out on top as time expired on the Open Final Central Coast Section Championship game. The Eagles toped the Gilroy Mustangs for a second time this season, 46-35 at San Jose City College, taking home a section crown.
“We came here last year and came up short by two points,” Long said. “This year we weren’t coming up short.’

Pedestrian killed at Branham Lane and Eagle Lake Drive
Hit and run in Blossom Valley marks city’s 39th traffic fatality

Staff Writer
In the early morning hours of Dec. 3, Erwin Arnold, 59, was the apparent victim of a hit and run at Branham Lane and Eagle Lake Drive.
Each morning, Erwin left his sister’s house and walked to the bus stop at Almaden Expressway to attend a downtown job center. On Monday morning, Dec. 3 at approximately 4:45 a.m., he left as usual. Read more...
