At the luncheon, held on Monday, Sept. 8, Pyle joined Unicorn volunteers on celebrating their 15 years of operation and the group’s significant financial support of
Eastfield Ming Quong Children & Family Services (EMQ). “The Unicorn Thrift Store has donated over $1.5 million to EMQ and has contributed immeasurable good will to the residents of Almaden Valley who have shop in your store,” she told the volunteers.
EMQ annually assists more than 5,600 children and their families to build mental, emotional and social wellbeing through treatment, support and educational services. EMQ’s services are extremely accessible to the community through 24-hour mobile crisis services, which include school-based day treatment, addiction prevention, mental health therapy, child sexual abuse treatment, and foster family placement, Pyle said.
Unicorn Thrift Shop is regarded as one of the most successful second hand boutiques in San Jose and was awarded an official commendation by Mayor chuck Reed and the City Council members on May 1, 2006.
The shop carries a wide variety of gently used clothing, house wares and books that appeal to many different types of customers. Visitors to the shop are always greeted by a warm and welcoming volunteer.
