GateWay Community Outreach opens
The Grand opening of GateWay Community Outreach located at 5883 Eden Park Place in San Jose on Sunday, March 30 at 1:00-2:30 pm. There will be free food and drinks for all who attend. This event will feature the unveiling of Kid City, a 20,000 square feet facility for kids and teens of all ages. Every child will walk away with a smile and a balloon. Host families needed for Academic Foundation
The Academic Foundation for International Cultural Exchange (AFICE) is looking for individuals to work as community representatives who find host families and work with their students during the school year. Individuals must enjoy working with teenagers and have good communication skills.
AFICE is also looking for host families in the local area to host foreign Exchange students. These young ambassadors are between 15 and 18 years of age and speak English.
Student's profiles will start arriving for students from various communities. Students come with their own spending money and medical insurance.

Nicholas Rice-Sanchez enters Council District 2 race
Nicholas Rice-Sánchez, has announced his candidacy for city Council Member of District 2 for a chance to replace termed-out Forrest Williams in District 2, which includes the Santa Teresa area and the Coyote Valley.

A kickoff campaign party was held at his home on March 8, 2008 at 3 p.m., to meet the community and the press.
Born and raised near Cottle Road and alumni of local schools, Bernal Intermediate and Santa Teresa High School, Rice-Sánchez has always been involved and interested in his community.
Rice-Sánchez graduated from Sacramento State with a B.A. in Social Science in 2007, and immediately began working for the past year with San Jose’s Council Member Pierluigi Oliverio.
Throughout college Rice-Sánchez worked at the California Attorney General’s office in Sacramento, while concurrently continuing to work with numerous community organizations when he returned home to South San Jose, including the Billy DeFrank LGBT Center, and as an annual volunteer for the Santa Teresa CommunityFest.
