Modernization Program nears conclusion, largely thanks to community support

By Oak Grove School District Superintendent Manny Barbara
Special to the Times

Over the years, we at the Oak Grove School District have received strong support from our community.

In November 1995, the community generously approved a $75 million bond authorization for the purpose of upgrading school facilities within our district. After almost 12 years, the Modernization Program will come to an end this summer.

The program addressed a significant portion of the overall facility needs in Oak Grove. All school sites received significant improvements, ranging from new student restrooms to playground equipment, roof upgrades, painting and technology infrastructure.

Last summer, the Modernization Program completed various electrical and other classroom wiring at Anderson, Oak Ridge and Taylor Schools. Herman Intermediate School benefited from seismic reinforcement of building columns and replacement of a canopy roof.

While more work remains, we have benefited from the community’s generosity over the last decade, and would like to express our gratitude for all of your support and assistance. Thank you!
